INS Tir and INS Sujata will participate in the upcoming second India Mozambique Tanzania (IMT) Tri Lateral (TRILAT) exercise, a joint maritime exercise from 21-29. March 24th. The first IMT TRILAT exercise was conducted on October 22, with INS Tarkash participating along with the navies of Tanzania and Mozambique.The exercise is planned in two phases. As part of the port stage, which is planned for 21-24 March 24, the ships Tir and Sujata will enter with their fleet in the ports of Zanzibar (Tanzania) and Maputo (Mozambique). This phase would begin with a planning conference, followed by joint port training such as damage control, firefighting, search and seizure procedures on board a visitor, medical lectures, casualty evacuation and diving operations. The maritime phase of the exercise is scheduled for 3/24-27/24 and will include practical aspects of countering asymmetric threats, Visiting Board search and seizure procedures, boat handling, maneuvers and artillery exercises. Joint supervision of the economic zone is also planned in the maritime phase. The exercise will conclude with a joint thematic review scheduled at Nacala, Mozambique.During the port stay, Indian Navy ships will be open to visitors and engage in sporting and cultural exchanges with the host navies. Training visits in the respective ports are also planned for the sea trainees of the 106 integrated officer training course..
